Abel Mkulama is an emerging world leader in conservation and climate change. He is a Graduate Student and Fellow at the Coastal Science and Policy program of the University of California Santa Cruz selected among the top eight fellows from five continents. The program trains the next generation of leaders who can develop solutions for real coastal and environmental challenges around the world.
Abel has won multiple honors and awards from reputable organizations in his four years of career; for the impacting local communities in Lilongwe in Malawi.
Between 2018 and 2019 alone, he was recognized by UNESCO, Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI), Global Youth Biodiversity Network(GYBN), Africa Wildlife Foundation(AWF), the Global Green Grants Fund(GGGF), African Union Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO) and the Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment (MAIIC).
Abel lives in Santa Cruz California, west coast of the United States. He is interested in testing scalable innovations aimed at empowering rural communities and reducing deforestation and sustainable fishing in Malawi.
